Going for a run in the snowy streets of Bozeman, Mont., was enough to convince Forrest Jarvi that Montana State was the right place for him.

The Sprague senior signed Wednesday to compete in track and field and cross country at the Division I university.

Jarvi is a two-time district cross country champion and two-time district track and field champion who placed fifth in the state in the 800 last season.

"First time I visited was in June last year then I also visited for track recruiting the January the week before finals and I went for a run with the team and I had just a great experience recruiting there," said Jarvi who plans on majoring in mechanical engineering.

Sprague senior Cody Miles also signed to play soccer at Oregon Wednesday morning, a year and four months after she verbally committed to.

"I never had second thoughts about Oregon," said Miles, a first-team all-state selection this season. "I was really happy to get it done and I never ever thought I would change my mind.

"I kind of thought when I committed that maybe I would regret committing so early and so young, but I definitely think it's the right school for me and I'm really excited about it."

South Salem has two signings scheduled for today.

Senior Danielle Hayward, a two-time first-team all-CVC selection, will sign to play soccer at Idaho State.

Track and field standout Rebecca Rhodes will sign to compete in track and field at Oregon.

Rhodes is a three-time state champion -- twice in long jump and once in triple jump -- and a 10-time district champion in the sport for the Saxons.
