Sprague High School girls soccer coach Terry Hancock has resigned.
Hancock was a head soccer coach at Sprague for the past 11 years and also an assistant at Santiam Christian for four years.
"When I started coaching 11 years ago, I did not think I would have experienced six principals, five athletic directors and a new FieldTurf surface," Hancock said.
"I cannot say enough wonderful things about Sprague, about all the people I've encountered."
A graduate of Lakeridge High, Hancock coached Sprague's boys teams from 1998 to 2004. The Olympians reached the state playoffs in 2000 and 2001. The 2000 team produced the team's first state quarterfinal appearance.
He coached Sprague's girls teams the past four years and the team made the state playoffs each season. Sprague placed second in league each of the past three seasons. His daughter, Kelsey, is a senior at Sprague.
He also was an assistant coach at Santiam Christian for four years, running concurrently with his time at Sprague, when son, Alex, played for the Eagles.
Hancock, who works in real estate, also was a long-time coach with Salem United and the Cascade Futbol Club.
Soccer: Sprague player Malstrom signs at Seattle
Sprague senior Ali Malstrom has signed a national letter of intent to play soccer at Seattle University.
Malstrom, an outside midfielder and forward for Sprague, was a first-team, all-Central Valley Conference selection the past two seasons for the Olympians.
Malstrom also has been a member of Oregon's Olym-pic Development Program team and plays for the Lake Oswego Soccer Club's Havoc.
Seattle currently is an NCAA Division II program but is moving up to Division I starting with the 2008-09 school year.
Malstrom is the second Sprague soccer player to sign to play college soccer, joining Cody Miles (Oregon).
